Mysteries of the Labyrinth

The labyrinth is an ancient and sacred pattern currently experiencing a rebirth of interest. The original purpose for and uses of the labyrinth are a mystery, and yet one only has to walk in a labyrinth to begin to understand its potential. Some of the ways labyrinths are used by individuals and groups include walking meditation, sacred ceremony, community building, and celebrations of special events such as major life passages. Two workshops are available to experience for yourself some of the mystery of the labyrinth:

Healing in the labyrinth

As a sacred healing image and tool, the labyrinth offers us a space, a place to connect to the deeper parts of our being, to unravel some of our own mysteries, seek guidance, and regenerate. The healing workshop is designed to expand participants' capacity to energize their own healing powers. Using breath, grounding and soft focus we will learn the skill of meditative walking. In the labyrinth we will learn to sense the energy of this sacred pattern, and open to it's guidance. The tools of journaling and collage will provide creative ways of holding our experience in physical expression.

Labyrinth rituals

'Ritual physicalizes the spiritual and spiritualizes the physical' Letty Cottin Pogrebin In the labyrinth we create a physical expression of the essence we feel when we celebrate significant passages. Occasions such as a birthing rite in pregnancy or a croning ceremony for a sixtieth birthday offer opportunities for ritual celebration. The labyrinth ritual workshop focuses on the skills and process used to visualize, plan, create and manifest labyrinth rituals. We will learn to set intention, create a storyline, use visualization, voice, movement, drumming and other percussion, as resources in framing the energy of celebration.
